We‘ve really enjoyed our time in the Ha’apai island group of Tonga. The whales are still around, if not in the quantities that they were earlier in the season. This big male was between us and the beach on our way into the main town, Pangai. We went into Pangai to clear in and out of the Ha’apai Customs.
When we were in Pangai the supply ship was just leaving the dock – always an exciting time here.
The reefs in the Ha’apai are really healthy. Some of the best we’ve seen since the Tuamotus in French Polynesia.
We didn’t see many large fish, but lots of colorful corals and small reef fish.
The reef areas are very extensive, with acres of corals around.
